Build a line-level order matrix
Record SKU, version, units per carton, cartons ordered, total selling units and packing revision. Add intended channel and priority. This makes mixed assortments comparable without losing the details that determine the final order.
Balance breadth with simplicity
More choice introduces more carton configurations, documents and reorder decisions. Group products by retail role and packing needs. Identify which lines may be substituted and which must remain unchanged before committing to shipment timing.
Treat consolidation as a milestone
Different lines may become ready at different times. Discuss consolidation location, readiness cut-off, inspection access and handling responsibilities in writing. A planned shared shipment does not guarantee that all products finish production together.
Protect the repeat-order reference
Map your internal code to the supplier SKU and package revision. If a component or carton quantity changes, request an updated line before ordering. This matters when your customers continue ordering under an unchanged internal code.
